Sick Visits

September 23, 2020

As your trusted partners in care, the physicians and office team at Prime Immediate and Primary Care have office hours seven days a week and are always available to provide the support and treatment your child requires to help ensure optimal wellness and treat any illness, infection, or injury.

When your child is not feeling well and experiencing fever, nausea, cough, sore throat, an infection, or manifesting symptoms of asthma or allergies, it’s important to contact our office for appropriate guidance and care.

Since parents sometimes find it difficult to decide if symptoms of an illness can just be treated at home or a visit to our office is indicated, here is a general list of issues that should be brought to our attention:

  • High fever in children under a year old
  • High fever in children over a year old that is accompanied by vomiting, rashes, confusion, or stiff neck.
  • High fever or persistent fever that lasts more than three days in a row
  • Rashes resembling chicken pox
  • Rashes that are accompanied by heavy breathing
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Persistent pain such as stomachache, sore throat, earache, or headache
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Any unusual symptoms that persist for days or if a child appears very weak, or seems to be getting sicker over time.

At Prime Immediate and Primary Care, our skilled and experienced medical team are well equipped to address your child’s healthcare needs.  While a diagnosis can often be made during the course of a sick visit, additional tests are sometimes ordered to confirm the diagnosis or to detect the presence of another underlying condition.

It’s essential to keep in mind that if your child experiences a medical emergency such as difficulty breathing, a seizure, or traumatic injury, urgent attention as provided by the emergency department of a hospital is required.
